The CAT 13 Volleyball Tournament

This year, NOVUS Clothing Company is partnering with the American Cancer Society of the Capital Region to raise money for cancer treatment and research through its annual summer volleyball tournament. To ring in the summer solstice, the CAT 13 will be held on Wednesday, June 21 at NOVUS HQ.

Headlining the 13th annual “CAT” on Wednesday, June 21 will be Super Bowl XLVII champion offensive lineman Michael Oher, who’s story was made famous by the book and movie The Blind Side, Kansas City Chiefs two-time Super Bowl champion Harrison Butker and Team USA beach volleyball star Terese Cannon.

Last year, we raised over $15,000 and this year, we’re hoping to raise $25,000 to help positively impact the ACS. Check out our CAT 12 Recap video and read more about the charity tournament’s history below.

The History of the CAT

Twelve summers ago, high school brothers Nick and Garrett Bernardo, along with best friend Alex Martin, started a volleyball tournament with their friends from Bethlehem, NY.

Originally hosting eight teams of six players, the tournament brought together friends as players, referees, DJs, and announcers. Now, the CAT Volleyball Tournament has evolved into a twelve-team tournament and a local summer staple event.

NOVUS Clothing Company has outfitted the CAT and its participants since 2012 with tees and tank tops and has used the event to raise money for causes they care about.

The CAT Volleyball Tournament has raised money for the Jimmy Fund, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and the American Cancer Society of the Capital Region.
