Meet NOVUS Athlete George Odum

San Francisco 49ers Two-Time All-Pro Athlete

Who is George Odum?

From his humble beginnings to his current achievements, George Odum's journey is a testament to the power of determination and the importance of staying true to oneself.

Two-time All-Pro athlete, George Odum is a safety and special teams player for the San Francisco 49ers and made a name for himself with his relentless work ethic, versatility, and impact on the field.

Born and raised in Millington Tennessee, he played five seasons of football at the University of Central Arkansas after redshirting his freshman year.

As a senior, Odum led the Bears in tackles and was named Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Year. As an undrafted free agent, Odum earned a try-out with the Indianapolis Colts in 2018. He played on special teams during their training camp and ultimately landed a spot on the team. In 2022, he made his debut with the San Francisco 49ers.

With a top running speed of 21.5 mph on the field, Odum certainly claimed his crown during the 2022-2023 season. With 21 special teams tackles, Odum not only led the Niners but also the NFL in special teams tackles—a testament to his hard work and perseverance. After being named to the 2020 and 2022 All-Pro Team for his special team play, he dubbed the nickname, “All-Pro G-O.”

Despite facing adversity during 2023-2024 season with a torn biceps, Odum’s resilience prevailed as he returned to the field in time for the NFC Divisional Playoffs. Odum’s defensive skills played a pivotal role in propelling the 49ers to Super Bowl LVIII, marking his first Super Bowl debut.

NOVUS Partners With George Odum

The first conversation sparked when NOVUS spotted a crown tattoo paired with the James 1:12 verse on a friend of George's. NOVUS immediately resonated with this.

“Long before we were aware of the meaning this verse would have on our lives, a poster on the walls of our childhood bedroom was a subtle reminder to persevere,” said NOVUS co-founder, Garrett Bernardo. “That reminder has manifested itself in the crown you see on every piece of clothing we make.”

George’s friend explained to NOVUS that George had a desire to discover his own brand and create an identity that truly represented who he was as an individual both on and off the field.  From then on, it was the perfect match.

The values between NOVUS and George aligned instantly as we were told that “faith, family, and football” are the key principles in his life.

Whether it's making a crucial play on the field or pursuing his dreams off the field, George understands the importance of moving forward and persevering.

He described that he “had the faith to take his first step” with our company.

His mindset is always focused on personal growth, as he said “Who can I be here?” when partnering with NOVUS and building his own brand.

After working with the NOVUS design team on his logo and image, he described the arrow and ‘Go 30’ meaning “one direction” which fueled George to claim his crown this season.

The mantra “any means necessary” is embedded in Odum’s veins as he understands that true success is not only measured by individual accomplishments but by the positive impact one has on the lives of others.

Whether it's refining his football skills, expanding his knowledge, or developing his character, George understands that growth is a lifelong journey.
