Rising Together: The CAT14 Volleyball Fundraiser

The CAT Volleyball Tournament Raises $42,000 for the American Cancer Society, the Double H Ranch, and the 1:12 Project

Just when we thought it couldn’t get better than the CAT13, the 14th Annual CAT exceeded all expectations. What began as a small volleyball tournament in the Bernardo brothers’ backyard has grown into the Capital Region's largest fundraising volleyball tournament.

“14 years is definitely something we’re really proud of, but it’s the people coming out year after year supporting it that makes it that much better. This year was the first year that we decided to support 3 different charities at the CAT tournament that are very near and dear to our hearts,” said Garrett Bernardo, Co-Founder of NOVUS.

The tournament attracted over 350 people, who came together to raise over $42,000 for three deserving charities: The American Cancer Society of the Capital Region, the Double H Ranch, and NOVUS’ own mission, the 1:12 Project

By shedding light and raising awareness for causes near and dear to our hearts, we brought over 350 people together to raise over $42,000 in support of three remarkable organizations. With a shared vision to end cancer and improve the lives of those affected, the American Cancer Society of the Capital Region stands as a beacon of hope. The Double H Ranch, dedicated to providing year-round programs and unwavering support, brings joy and relief to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. The 1:12 Project, founded by NOVUS co-founders Garrett and Nick Bernardo, passionately promotes a life of purpose and passion. Through our collective efforts, we honor these organizations that have a profound impact on our community.

The event featured 24 competing in a night of fun, food, and philanthropy. Two champions were crowned this year: The Robert and Lisa Moser Family Foundation in the “Just for Fun” bracket and team LVC 1  in the “Competitive” bracket.

When not playing, participants and spectators enjoyed various activities around the brand-new sport courts. Highlights included a 360 cam sponsored by the Smile Lounge (check out the album!), a kids corner featuring games and our dancing mascots. Guests got a taste of the Capital Region with Gourmeli’s food truck, Chick Fil A, Spirit Water, and delicious Ben and Jerry’s ice cream! The Shaker Road Loudonville Fire Department decorated the event with an American flag hanging off the firetruck ladder, while the night was lit up by the Technical Video Inc. jumbotron!

The community also got an exclusive first look at NOVUS’ new logo and brand vision. Embracing the powerful slogan “Time To Rise,” this soft launch marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for NOVUS. The volleyball tournament became more than just a fundraiser; it was a celebration of our shared journey and future aspirations, leaving everyone inspired to Claim Their Crown.

Thank you to everyone who sponsored, participated, and supported this incredible event. Your contributions make a real difference in our community. See you next year!
